The owner of the former historic cottage at 2125 N. Cleveland sought approval from MidNorth for the demolition of the structure on the property.  The facade of the property was rebuilt in the 1970s, and replaced with a modern brick and plywood design.  The Chicago Planning, Design and Historic Preservation Division of the Chicago Department of Planning confirmed that proposals for new construction on this site will be subject to review by the Historic Preservation staff and require approval of the Planning Commission.

Architect Phil Casagrande provided a set of preliminary drawings for the new structure, on which MidNorth based its decision not to oppose demolition.   MidNorth has expressed to the architect and developer of the property its concerns about the materials used in the construction of the new structure, and has asked that be consistent with the landmarked properties in the area.
